JACKSON, La. — A correctional officer at Dixon Correctional Institution in Jackson was arrested after bringing 91 grams of synthetic marijuana into the facility on Monday.
Correctional Officer April Lemon, 33, faces a felony charge of introducing contraband into a penal facility.
The Department of Public Safety and Corrections spokesperson Pam Laborde told The Advocate the contraband was found in Lemon’s lunch container.
“The facility received information that she was going to be bringing in contraband to the facility, so when she arrived for her shift, she was pat-frisked and her belongings were searched as well,” Laborde said.
Lemon, who had been working at the facility for less than a year, was released Tuesday on $10,000 bail.
