RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. — Four people have been arrested and several bogs of tobacco, cell phones, phone chargers and other suspected contraband were seized after Rankin County Sheriff’s Deputies apparently foiled a plan to toss the items over a fence at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility Wednesday night.
A citizen’s call to the Sheriff’s Office around 10:30 p.m. sent deputies to the 3700 block of Mississippi 468, near the prison in Pearl, where the four were stopped. The caller had reported seeing two males getting out a vehicle and carrying several bags.
Twenty-three year old Nikita Davis, 19-year-old Antonio Conner, 18-year-old Jeremy Nelson and 22-year-old Yakeyla Rogers are in the Rankin County Jail, charged with conspiracy to introduce contraband into a correctional facility. They had bond hearings Friday morning, and are scheduled for preliminary hearing Tuesday.
