WAYNE COUNTY, W. Va. — An incarcerated Wayne County man was injured Sunday when a fellow Mount Olive Correctional Complex inmate stabbed him with a makeshift knife, officials said.
Jordan Roush was stabbed by Victor Hoffman, an inmate from Putnam County, Monday morning while both men were in the prison yard, said West Virginia Division of Corrections Director Jim Rubenstein.
Hoffman used a “shank,” or homemade knife.
Rasch was treated at the prison’s health unit and released with non-serious injuries, Rubenstein said.
An investigation into the incident is being performed by the West Virginia State Police in addition to an internal investigation by the DOC, he said.
Hoffman will be charged with a Class I violation, the most serious charge in prison.
Additional charges could be pressed against Hoffman pending the state police investigation.
Hoffman is serving time on two counts of conspiracy to manufacture and sell a controlled substance.
Roush is serving time on child molestation charges.
