CAPE CORAL, Fla. — “They haven’t told me what happened, how it happened… not even exact date.” Those words are coming from Rosa Moreno.
She is trying to get answers as to what happened to her brother, Frank, while he was in the Charlotte Correctional Institute.
Frank is on life support at Lee Memorial Hospital following an altercation while in prison. Rosa says it took more than two days to find out he was in the hospital and every time Frank’s family wants to visit him, they have to coordinate with the prison to find a time when they can have extra security there.
The Florida Department of Corrections says even while in intensive care, an inmate has to have security which means limited visitation and as far as the delay in notifying the family, a spokeswoman said, “I’m not going to get into appropriate or not appropriate. The staff reached out to everyone that they could and they did it as quickly as they could.”
