COOK COUNTY, Ill. — Four divisions of the Cook County Jail have been placed on quarantine after more than 30 inmates came down with a stomach virus.
CBS News reports that Sheriff Tom Dart says the quarantine will remain until further notice.
Those with the virus are under “limited movements” and the divisions’ living, dining, shower, toilet and all “high touch surface areas” are being regularly disinfected. Linens are being laundered separately.
No officers have reported suffering any symptoms but staff is being closely monitored.
Altogether, the four divisions hold just under four thousand inmates.
