Inmate stabbed at Utah State Prison

A medical helicopter was called to the prison but later canceled when UFA arrived and treated the wounded inmate

SALT LAKE CITY -- An inmate at the Utah State Prison in Draper was transported to an area hospital in stable condition Sunday after being stabbed.

Cliff Burningham with the Unified Fire Authority said no specific details were immediately available on the person or the incident. He said the 911 call came in from 14425 South and Bitterbrush Lane (300 West) shortly after 6:30 p.m. Sunday on a report of a person being stabbed in the back three times. Staff members got the bleeding under control, Burningham said.
