MONROE COUNTY, Mich. — A corrections nurse didn’t even blink when an inmate collapsed from an asthma attack.
The Monroe News reports that Nurse Jacque Biegajski immediately responded to the inmate when he couldn’t obtain relief from his inhaler. When she couldn’t find a pulse, Biegajski began CPR while other corrections officers applied an AED and oxygen mask.
During the second set of chest compressions, the inmate began breathing on his own. Emergency services arrived and transported the inmate to a nearby hospital.
Those who assisted Biegajski in the rescue include Correctional Sgt. Julie Massengill and Correctional Officers John Stanish, Aaron Socha, Mike Grodi, and Maintenance Technician Chad Nation.
All will be recognized with Life Saving Awards from the sheriff’s office.
