GOIAS STATE, Brazil — Inmates from the Rio Verde prison dug a tunnel for two months, then filmed their escape before posting the video online.
The Independent reports that 13 prisoners escaped from the facility after continuously digging a hole in their cell when corrections officers failed to inspect the prisoner’s cell for two months.
Inmates filmed themselves escaping through the tunnel, then turned and talked to the camera after clearing the prison grounds.
CCTV footage from the prison shows the inmates running across the prison yard.
The officer on duty has been suspended for not discovering the escape plan. Two of the 13 escapees have been recaptured.
