49 graduate from RI Department of Corrections academy

43 have already begun shadowing current officers in preparation for assignments

CRANSTON — Newly-minted corrections officers have graduated from the Rhode Island Department of Corrections nine-week program, according to the DOC.

The Providence Journal said that of the 49 graduates, 43 have already begun shadowing current officers in preparation for assignments in one of the state’s six Adult Correctional Institutions.

The remaining six graduates will be assigned as expected retirements occur later in the year.
