When is the last time you practiced hand-cuffing someone?

95 percent of all handcuffing is cooperative by the subject; if they will cooperate, we need to let them!

Short, simple handcuffing is non-offensive to most subjects, but puts you in the proper position for an iron wrist takedown.

Right, right right
Handcuffs should be on the right side of your belt, Draw handcuffs in your right hand. We are cuffing his right hand first.

Order the subject to “face away; put your hands behind your back with the palms out, thumbs up.”

Cuffs in our right hand, we are cuffing his right hand every time; OK grip with your left hand on his right thumb,

Squat a little and hand cuff from a low powerful position (apply cuff from below).

Rotate the subject’s wrist to the middle of his back and load the cuff.

Your left hand shakes his left hand and down into the cuff.

Check handcuff tightening and position, double lock/double lock.

Grab a partner and practice three times each, demonstrating for me as I walk around the room. If you’re left handed make the adjustment in your own head.
