EAST LYME — Three corrections officers were injured during an incident at York Correctional Institution Wednesday morning, officials said.
A female offender at the facility “became combative” about 11:30 a.m., officials said. The officers then attempted to restrain the inmate.
While trying to put the woman in handcuffs, one officer got punched in the face. A second officer was injured in the ankle and a third was injured in the leg, Department of Corrections officials said.
The officers were taken to the hospital. The woman was also taken to the hospital as well.
State police were called to investigate.
