HOUSTON COUNTY, Ala. — “You don’t see it very often where someone is brazen enough to try to break someone out of jail,” said Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes.
Just after 6 o’clock this morning Houston County deputies found traces of a break-in at the county jail. Officials believe someone or a group of people tried to enter the jail to break out an inmate or multiple inmates by cutting through the fence and then trying to make their way inside the building.
“There are a lot of security measures built into the design of the facility and they never actually came close to the cell or allowing the inmate to escape,” said Hughes.
This morning when they realized what had happened inmates were immediately counted.
