AIKEN, S.C. — A traveling ‘Choice Bus’ is educating students on what life is like in prison, in hopes of inspiring them to make good choices.

The Aiken Standard reports that the back of the bus is transformed into a 10x10 square cell, complete with bunks and toilet.

Along with introduction to the cell, students also watch a video and discuss the value of education.

The bus is funded by the Mattie C. Stewart Foundation, and they’re hoping to put students on the right track.

Codi Feltman, one of the staff members from the foundation, says about 75 percent of inmates don’t have a high school diploma.

“They are eight times more likely to go to prison if they drop out of school.”

Aiken Middle School will follow up on the bus visit with additional video material and writing activies.
