She was hired as a correctional officer in January 2008, a year after being convicted of misdemeanor larceny. She had stolen jewelry from a department store in December 2006.
According to state law, correctional officers cannot have been convicted of misdemeanors for three years. The Department of Justice’s Criminal Justice Standards Division is responsible for verifying that applicants meet this requirement.
The agency is required to perform a criminal history check of local, state and national files.
Daly has multiple aliases, including Cynthia Murray Daly, Cynthia Luwanna Daly and Wanda Daly.
She was still employed as a correctional officer Tuesday, according to a Department of Public Safety spokesperson.
