BRIDGEPORT — The state correctional officer charged in a hit and run that killed a woman and injured her son was in court Tuesday.
Patricia Daniels pleaded not guilty to the charges and requested a jury trial, reports CT News.
Daniels is charged in the Dec. 4 crash that killed Evelyn Agyei and injured her 11-year-old son. She’s been with the Department of Corrections for 15 years.
Surveillance footage captured an SUV ramming Agyei’s car twice, driving it into a tree. Authorities found the SUV to match Daniel’s, which had damage on the front end. When asked about the damage, Daniels said she had driven to the hospital and committed herself to the “psych unit” on Dec. 4.
She claimed to be having pre-wedding jitters but was later found to not even be in a relationship with the man she claimed to be marrying. Police have tracked Daniels’ cell phone to being at the crash scene at the time of the incident.
