DALLAS COUNTY, Iowa — A serial burglar who now faces an escape charge had to be flushed out from underneath a porch by a K-9 in order for authorities to recapture him.
According to the Des Moines Register, fugitive Kenny Bevard refused to surrender even as he was surrounded by half a dozen law enforcement agencies.
Bevard jumped out of a moving vehicle while being transported to jail on Thursday. He was seated in the front with the transport officer, as two female inmates were seated in the back and being transferred to another facility.
The front doors of the Chevy Impala being used to transport the inmates was not equipped with locks, which enabled Bevard to take off his seatbelt, open the door and escape.
The back seat of the car had child safety locks and was separated from the front with steel bars.
