HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Correctional Facility inmate who walked away from his job Saturday in Chase was apprehended Thursday in Wichita.

HCF Spokesman Dirk Moss said Christopher M. Ward was taken into custody by a joint task force of Kansas Department of Corrections Special Agents, K-9 officers and U.S. Deputy Marshalls. Ward was returned to the custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections.

Ward, 43, was one of 31 minimum security inmates from the prison working at Cal-Maine Industries, an egg-processing plant in Chase, Moss said.

Upon completion of the investigation, the reports will be forwarded to the Rice County Attorney’s Office for review.
