HUDSON COUNTY – The family of fallen correctional officer Scott Smith is seeking assistance to pay for his funeral.
“Please help us raise money for Scott Smith’s funeral. He is my husband and a father of our 3 beautiful children,” Genevirre Scott wrote on the GoFundMe page for fundraising, according to the Hudson County View. “He is a hard working [sic] corrections officer and would do anything for anyone.”
In nine days, 155 people have contributed $10,405 as of this writing. The goal is $12K.
Many wrote supportive messages on the GoFundMe page.
“Our condolences, thoughts and prayers are with the Smith family during this difficult time,” Robert and Stevette Day wrote.
“Scott was a great guy and will be missed. He loved his family and his cars,” Alex Diaz wrote. “I brought him many packages and car stuff. May he rest in peace.”
How Smith died has not been reported.
