MARION COUNTY, Fla. — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office decided to bring jail to the county instead of bringing suspects to the jail, all in order to prevent crime from even happening.
Click Orlando reports that the sheriff’s office has developed a mobile ‘jail cell on wheels,’ part of the MCSO’s crime prevention program, that visits schools and community events.
The trailer has similar dimensions to a jail cell, along with a toilet, sink, mattress, pillow and uniform.
Funded through the Marion County’s Crime Prevention Fund, the trailer boasts a jail door with iron bars attached to the side and inside, along with signs of the cost of being incarcerated and the family impact.
