JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Runners from the Northeast Florida criminal justice community carried the torch from the Police Memorial Building to the Jacksonville Landing.
News4Jax reports that members of the Florida Department of Corrections, police agencies and more ran side by side with Special Olympics athletes in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
The run was hosted by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Funds are raised for the Special Olympics during March through the sale of hats and shirts; in 2014, JSO raised $8,100 in sponsorships.
