PONTIAC — A Livingston County grand jury has indicted two former employees of the Illinois Department of Corrections on official misconduct charges related to their work at Pontiac Correctional Center.
Angela Creech and Sherry Lasek were named in indictments charging them with multiple counts of official misconduct and one count of obstructing justice.
According to the IDOC, the two cases are not related.
The official misconduct charges alleges that the correctional officers violated Illinois administrative rules on socializing with inmates and/or a relative or close associate of an inmate, said a statement from Livingston County State’s Attorney Seth Uphoff.
Creech also is accused of accepting a gift, flowers, from an inmate in violation of administrative rules.
The obstruction charges allege the women provided false information during their interviews with investigators.
Lasek, 45, is from Pontiac and worked for IDOC for 20½ years. Creech, 39, is from Chenoa and was a 16-year veteran with the state.
Each defendant voluntarily left state employment following the investigation, said Uphoff.
