TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — A federal inmate escaped in a government vehicle Sunday from a minimum security prison in Terre Haute.
Department of Justice officials said 61-year-old Michael Ward was found missing Sunday during an official inmate count at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute.
Ward was placed on escape status at 9:50 a.m., and the U.S. Marshals Service was notified.
Officials said Ward is a minimum security inmate serving a 120 month sentence for fraud by wire, radio or television.
Ward is believed to have escaped in a white, government-owned Chevy Silverado with U.S. government license plate J0011THA.
He is described as a white male, standing 6' - 6'1" tall and weighing approximately 195 pounds, with brown eyes and gray hair.
Anyone with information about Ward’s whereabouts should call 911 immediately.
