PANAMA CITY, Fla. — Light rain Thursday afternoon didn’t dampen the spirits of Panama City Woman’s Club members officially cutting the ribbon on progress.
Club president Jan Gainer says the building was in desperate need of proper handicapped access as well as parking spaces. For years members of the non profit organization tried to make their clubhouse wheelchair accessible, but the cost was too much for their budget.
Enter Sheriff Frank McKeithan , who offered inmate labor to make the project a reality. Not only did the inmates build a wheelchair ramp, they helped create an entirely new entrance, making it easier for everyone to get into the building.
Jail warden Rick Anglin called it a win, win situation for everyone involved.
