MARION COUNTY -- The mistaken release of an inmate from the Marion County Jail last Friday is still a mystery.
The investigation into Brandy Majors’ mistaken release continues. She is at least the 11th inmate released by mistake at the jail in downtown Indianapolis since 2011. One of those who got away, and was recaptured, was convicted Hovey Street killer Tommy Warren.
Majors was arrested Sunday as she was being interviewed by Fox 59 News in an attempt to surrender to Sheriff John Layton. She was eventually transferred to the Hendricks County Jail where she faces an auto theft charge.
Layton told Fox 59 News he was trying to determine if there was a records or system malfunction that would have allowed Majors’ release or if the inmate misrepresented herself or convinced a deputy to let her go.
