SIOUX CITY, Iowa — An Iowa county is finally moving forward with some new surveillance equipment after weeks of debate.

Siouxland Matters reports that the Woodbury County has been approved to spend $185,000 on updates for their video equipment. Twenty-five cameras are also included in the purchase.

The jail will now have enough space to store up to two years’ worth of video, which is the amount of time someone has to file a claim against the jail.

Woodbury County Sheriff Dave Drew says his long-term plans include increasing the number of cameras on site to 75.
