Jail beating charges dropped against NJ corrections officers

Four were among five corrections officers indicted in July 2009 on charges of allegedly assaulting an inmate at the Cumberland County Jail in Bridgeton

BRIDGETON — Charges against four Cumberland County corrections officers accused of beating a jail inmate in 2008 have been dropped, officials said.

The four were among five corrections officers indicted in July 2009 on charges of allegedly assaulting an inmate at the Cumberland County Jail in Bridgeton. The fifth officer involved, Kevin Still, went to trial earlier this year and was cleared.

The indictments against the remaining four were dismissed on Friday.

John Fazzolari, Drew Ford, Joshua Minguela, Still and Kevin Pratts were indicted on charges of second-degree aggravated assault, three counts of second-degree official misconduct, fourth-degree falsifying records, fourth-degree obstructing administration of law or other governmental function and second-degree conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and related offenses.
