HOUSTON, Texas — A jail nurse with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was fired after officials learned she was seeking an autograph from an accused cop killer.

The woman, whose name was not released, worked for a contract company that supplied the jail with nurses, according to ABC News. She was escorted from the jail overnight and told not to return after coworkers reportedly overheard her say she wanted Shannon Miles’ autograph.

The woman never gained access to Miles, who’s charged with capital murder in the shooting of Deputy Darren Goforth, as his movements are very controlled within the jail.

Texas Senator John Cornyn recently introduced federal legislation to stop the ‘murderabilia’ industry.

Cornyn has tried and failed to ban the sale of items linked to killers, but will reintroduce it later this month.

The ‘Stop the Sale of Murderabilia’ Act would prevent violent criminals from making money from their crimes and reputations.
