Judge jails pizza shop owner for being ‘self-centered jerk’ during jury selection

Said the jury selection was a “waste of his [expletive] time”

PITTSBURGH — A man was jailed for 18 hours after a judge said he was acting like a “self-centered jerk” during jury selection for a homicide trial.

WPXI reports that Robert Cenci Jr., the owner of a popular Pittsburgh-area pizza shop, was jailed by Judge David Cashman after Cenci disrupted the jury process by answering his questionnaire in an effort to not be selected.

Cenci reportedly asked how long he was under subpoena, and when answered, replied that “this is a waste of my [expletive] time.”

When he was summoned by lawyers to talk to him about his jury questionnaire answers, he asked the murder suspect, “did you do it?”

Cashman then ordered Cenci to spend the night in jail.

Cenci later apologized and said “this is not the kind of man I am.” He has since been released.
