LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Police say they’ve arrested a man who called Louisville Metro Corrections and impersonated a police detective, telling the staff there that an inmate needed to be released.
According to an arrest warrant, the incident took place on April 26. Police say 35-year-old Joshua Robert Klein called Louisville Metro Corrections “and identified himself as a detective with LMPD, which he is not.” Klein allegedly spoke with a corrections officer and began asking about a female inmate in the jail, telling her that the inmate needed to be released.
But police say the corrections officer recognized Klein’s voice as one that sounded like a former inmate who had previously been a work aide at the jail.
