Man pleads guilty to Miss. prison riot

JACKSON — A Mexican native has pleaded guilty to rioting at the Adams County Correctional Center in 2012.

WJTV reports that Juan Geraldo Arredondo, 35, participated in the prison riot that resulted in the death of a correctional officer. Several other correctional officers were assaulted and held hostage for several hours.

Damages after the riot was quelled totaled upwards of $1,205,142.

Arredondo faces a $250,000 fine and the maximum of 10 years in federal prison. He faces sentencing on August 7.
