CONCORD — A Cheshire County corrections officer and convicted felon testified before the N.H. Executive Council Wednesday morning in hopes of receiving a pardon.

The council heard testimony from several people who said granting the pardon is the right thing to do, because at affirms the possibility of rehabilitation, and because it offers Thomas Schoolcraft a chance to redeem himself and continue his career in law enforcement.

A pardon would excuse Schoolcraft from his felony convictions, but not erase them from his record. He told the council that he’s interested in working for Rockingham County corrections, but that county policy does not allow the hiring of felons.
