ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A former New Mexico parole officer is behind bars for the next 18 months after he pleaded guilty to fondling a female probationer.
According to the criminal complaint, Gordon Chavez took his relationship with the parolee too far. He “reached inside the victim’s shirt and bra, and groped and fondled the victim’s breast.” Rose Bobchak, acting director for Probations and Parole within the Corrections Department, spoke to Action 7 News about the former employee.
“We do have measures in place to try and ensure that these incidents don’t happen,” Bobchak said. She added that no criminal history, or psychological issues, came up when Chavez applied for the job.
