CARLSBAD, N.M. — Police are reporting that an escaped Eddy County Detention Center inmate was shot while being recaptured.
Troy Kirkpatrick was fleeing in a vehicle, and officers had to use deadly force to bring him to a stop, according to KRQE.
Kirkpatrick later died at a hospital.
Another man by the name of Troy Kirkpatrick was arrested after a standoff in Carlsbad, but police are not reporting that this is the same Kirkpatrick.
