NORTH ARLINGTON, NJ — Two brothers, one a sheriff’s officer and the other a corrections officer, interceded in an attempted robbery while off duty on Wednesday.
The North Jersey reports that Anthony and Nicholas Ferrer saw the robbery in progress as a thief grabbed a woman’s pocket book and ripped the strap from her shoulder.
They both apprehended and subdued Michael Fernandez, even as Fernandez fought back. They kept Fernandez subdued until other officers could respond.
Fernandez was charged with simple assault, robbery, resisting arrest, two counts of assaulting a police officer and possession of both a hypodermic needle and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is currently being held in the Bergen County Jail.
