Ohio correctional officer reports break-in, stolen items from vehicle

Stolen items include a loaded 40-caliber semi-automatic handgun, a laptop, and a can of mace

TOLEDO, Ohio — A loaded firearm was recently stolen from a Lucas County jail corrections officer’s vehicle parked near the jail.

William Watson III, 35, parked his personal car about 2:30 p.m. Thursday on Canton Street, east of Spielbusch Avenue. He returned about 10:50 p.m. and noticed a suspect pried away the window to pop open the vehicle’s lock.

Stolen items include a loaded 40-caliber semi-automatic handgun, a laptop, and a can of mace, according to a Toledo police report.

Mr. Watson immediately drove to the police station to file a report, police said.
