MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — An employee of the Middletown City School District has been arrested on sex offense charges.

El-mon Jamil Prier, 39, of Middletown, was charged Friday with two counts of sexual battery, according to Middletown city jail records. No bond has been set for Prier, who remained in the city jail Monday.

Police have not yet released the arrest report or commented on the circumstances surrounding Prier’s arrest.

Prier is listed as an attendant at Middletown High School, according to the Ohio Department of Education. He had held substitute certificates from 1997 to 2006 and has held an educational aide permit since 2003.

There is no record of disciplinary actions and as of Monday he has not been flagged in the Ohio Department of Education’s online database of school employees with sanctions against them.

Neither Middletown City Schools Superintendent Greg Rasmussen nor board of education President Marcia Andrew could be reached Monday for comment.

Prier is the son of the Rev. Elmon W. Prier, an associate minister at United Baptist Missionary Church in Middletown and former Middletown schoolteacher. The Rev. Prier deferred comment Monday to Day-ton-area attorney Charles McKinney. McKinney could not be reached Monday for comment.
