LIMA — A 15-year-old boy who left a threatening note in a restroom at Elida High School last school year was sentenced to 90 days in local detention.
The boy, whose name was not released, also was sentenced last week to 36 hours of community service, ordered to write a letter of apology, and undergo anger management counseling. He also was placed on probation.
The teen pleaded guilty two months ago to inducing panic, a third-degree felony. He could have been sentenced to a juvenile prison, which was unlikely given the crime and his lack of a criminal record.
The incident happened March 25 at Elida High School. A student turned a note into a teacher, who then notified administrators. The note said a shooting would happen around 2 p.m. that day, about three hours after the note was found.
The school was placed on lockdown for about 90 minutes and police officials were called in.
