WASHINGTON, Pa. — A jury has ruled that captain with the Washington County Correctional Facility was not responsible for injuries an epileptic inmate suffered in 2010.
According to the Post-Gazette, David Wise was serving time for homicide by vehicle, a charge that stemmed from a seizure he suffered while driving.
Wise alleged that, while locked up, he was mocked, screamed at, dumped on the floor, isolated and injured to the point of disability. He was too sick to attend his own trial, and his case hinged on the testimony of another inmate.
A U.S. District Court jury found that jail Captain Michael King was not responsible for any harm suffered by the inmate; neither was the county.
