PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A correctional officer with the Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility who was caught on tape beating an inmate has resigned from his position ahead of the pope’s Sunday visit.

The Philly Voice reports that Correctional Officer Tyrone Glover resigned after an investigation following the incident caught on camera, where he beat inmate John Steckley. It is unclear if he faced any disciplinary action.

Glover had been implicated in two incidents, including one last September where he beat inmate Marcellus Temple in plain view of prison visitors. In both incidents, the inmates were initially charged.
