AUGUSTA, Maine — Ten inmates of the Kennebec County Jail Wednesday graduated from a program that tries to stop the cycle of substance abuse and criminal behavior.
“I want to be a better son, lover, brother and member of the community,” said graduate Bobby Greig.
Greig is among dozens of men and women who have completed the five-week-long CARA program, which was founded in 2010 by Sheriff Randall Liberty and Crisis and Counseling Centers. Liberty said CARA stands for Criminogenic Addiction and Recovery Academy.
“We truly believe anyone can be redeemed. No one is a throwaway,” said Liberty.
