NEW PORT RICHEY — The inmate who escaped a work detail in Pasco County last week admitted to having done so before, and the corrections officer who resigned is implicated in the next part of this investigation.
The sheriff’s office tacked on another escape charge for 27-year-old Jason Adams. They say he walked away from an inmate work detail last Monday -- for the second time.
It turns out that three weeks ago, Adams admitted to doing the same thing at the same gas station: asking for a bathroom break, leaving the work detail, walking through a wooded area to a gas station about a half-mile away on State Road 54, and shopping.
He returned undetected.
