JUNEAU, Wisc. — A Waupun Correctional Institution inmate appeared in court Thursday for head-butting an officer in the face while being escorted during shower time.

According to the Daily Citizen, the officer attempted to regain control of inmate James Anderson when the inmate kicked at the officer. Anderson yelled threats at additional officers who arrived to help contain the situation.

The injured officer was treated for his injuries at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

Anderson said he head-butted the officer because he felt mistreated by prison staff. He has been previously convicted of battery by prisoners.
