COLUMBUS, Ohio — Authorities were looking last night for two men who jumped a fence at the Franklin County Community-Based Correctional Facility on the South Side.

The men left the facility, at 1745 Alum Creek Dr., just after 9 p.m., according to the Franklin County sheriff’s office.

The minimum-security community facilities, including Franklin County’s, house nonviolent offenders, said Carlo LoParo, a spokesman for the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. It was unclear last night why the two men had been sentenced to the facility.

The facility is funded by the state and run by an appointed governing board.

Offenders housed there are called “residents” and can be sentenced to a maximum stay of six months, according to its website.
