MIAMI, Okla. – A jail inmate escaped from Ottawa County custody on Friday after he slipped his hands out of handcuffs, a sheriff’s detective said.

Herman Daniel Jones, 22, of Quapaw, should be considered armed and dangerous, detective Derek Derwin said.

Jones was being taken to the jail about 9:40 a.m. after making a court appearance, Derwin said.

Jones was handcuffed to a chain that was attached to several other inmates as they walked across the parking lot between the courthouse and the jail, Derwin said. During the walk, Jones was able to slip his hands from the handcuffs and run away, Derwin said.
