GWINNET COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County jailers are doing their best to recapture a four-legged inmate who was part of their Second Chance Rescue Program.
WSBTV reports that Rogue, a 15-pound Yorkshire terrir mix, broke free from a volunteer and has been on the lam ever since.
Traps laced with hamburger bait have been laid for her, but civilians have released her from her bonds at least twice. Signs have been erected to stop this from happening a third time.
It’s believed that the dog is surviving on scraps people are feeding her, keeping her from further venturing into the traps that would return her to the jail.
“When she is recovered, she’ll be right here at the Gwinnett County Jail,” said Shannon Volkodav, a sheriff’s office employee. “She’ll be back in Operation Second Chance with handlers who will train her and love on her, and she’ll be placed for adoption.”
