MARION COUNTY, Ind. — One day after the Marion County Sheriff’s Office announced changes in the jail after a spate of mistaken releases and jail deaths, an inmate escaped from the jail after stealing the wristband of another inmate and assuming her identity.

Jessica M. Stringer, 34, remains on the run after officials said she took the wristband of an inmate who was set to be released Thursday.

Stringer had been booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine and other drug-related counts.
