COLUMBUS, Ind. — After two inmate escapees were arrested by Bartholomew County sheriff’s deputies, the car one was being transported in crashed, 24-Hour News 8’s news partner, The Republic , reports.
Inmates Robert Norton III, 28, and Bruce Lee Martin, 26, ran from a Bartholomew County Jail work crew around 6:05 a.m. Wednesday at the Bartholomew County Highway Department garage. Police found the inmates in Jennings County within about four hours.
“They had four hours of freedom, for eight years additional time in jail now,” Sheriff Mark Gorbett told The Republic. “It’s just not good math.”
