Inmate escaped from Ark. prison through fence

PARIS, Ark. — Authorities are searching for an inmate who escaped from the Logan County jail in western Arkansas.

The sheriff’s office said 49-year-old Gary Patrick Topham escaped from the jail in Paris about noon Monday. Authorities said Topham was being held in lieu of $500,000 bond on drug charges.

Topham escaped by climbing through a section of the jail’s chain-link fence, authorities said .

Topham is described as a white male with brown eyes and brown hair. He stands 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. The sheriff’s office says Topham normally wears glasses but they were left behind, along with his orange jail-issued sandals.
