GARVIN COUNTY, Okla. — Authorities released surveillance footage of an inmate assaulting a deputy during a brazen courthouse escape on Sunday.

KOCO reports that inmate Jason Willis was getting ice from an ice machine while being escorted by a deputy when he assaulted the officer. The deputy tried to control Willis, but the inmate managed to escape the Garvin County Courthouse.

Willis, a convicted felon, was awaiting trial for a gun charge. The inmate was last seen running east from the Harvin County jail.

Authorities continue to search for Willis, who they say should be considered dangerous.

The deputy suffered minor injuries in the assault.
