PAYETTE, Idaho — A Payette County Jail inmate is on the loose after scaling the yard fence over razor wire and escaping.
KBOI2 reports that Nicholas Grove escaped the jail around 8:36 a.m., last spotted wearing a white T-shirt and black boxers.
A detention deputy was inside an open cafeteria door about 50 feet away, and witnessed the escape. He said it took Grove about 15 seconds to climb the fence and go over the wire. Grove was injured, but it’s unclear how badly.
An investigation is underway as to how Grove could escape in this manner in the middle of the day.
He was serving time for unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possession of burglary tools and an invalid license.
